About Dania

Dania Matiation has been a Registered Dietitian for, well, a few years. She is a member of Dietitians of Canada and the College of Dietitians of British Columbia. She studied at the University of Western Ontario and the University of Guelph before interning in dietetics. After five years as a family counselor, she embarked on her dream career with public health working with children and families.

Dania studied eating competence at the Ellyn Satter Institute in Wisconsin, took coaching training with Erickson College, and has studied and applied the nuggets from Laurel Mellin’s Pathway.  She has been on her own steep spiritual quest. From her own personal transformation came powerful strategies she offers to support and serve others who also struggle with emotional or addictive eating.

As you’ll discover in her Food Swings: A User's Guide to Dealing with the Call of Food workshop and book, Dania had been a closet emotional eater for years, hiding it under a lean body and the reputation of her profession. For twenty-some years, she observed and was intensely curious about people’s relationships with food including her own.

"To exhale is the name of the game.
Exhale from the heart, not from the lungs.
Speak from the heart, not from the tongue."
